Nevertheless, I didn't bother to venture up the longest and narrowest river, because I thought it looked too risky and I didn't consider the payoff worthwhile. I got the distinct impression that the game was making it easy for me, by keeping the wind in a favourable direction while I was on those rivers. I did hit some shallows up one or two of the rivers, but I rode through them anyway. I was probably sailing a corvette, because that was one of my ships of choice for covering long distances with exploration in mind.
